1221.0. "DNS setup problems" by CLARID::HOFSTEE (Take a RISC, buy a VAX) Mon Jul 08 1991 11:13
I am having a problem with the setup of DNS , after installing MCC.
After the installtion of DNS and MCC Director, I ran the

First, during the execution of this commandfile, I got the following errors:

The following were created:

Directory: dsp_ns:.DNA_BackTranslation
Directory: dsp_ns:.DNA_BackTranslation.%X49
Directories: dsp_ns:.DNA_BackTranslation.%X49.*
Directory: dsp_ns:.DNA_NodeSynonym
Directory: dsp_ns:.DNA_Node
Directory: dsp_ns:.DTSS_GlobalTimeServers
Directory: dsp_ns:.MCC
Directory: dsp_ns:.MCC_Bridge_BackTranslation
Directory: dsp_ns:.MCC_Station_BackTranslation
The following creations failed:

$ mc dns$control show dir . known child
Child ______ DNA_Node
Child ______ DNA_NodeSynonym

Second question question: why do I only have these childs. while according
to the mcc_dns_setup procedure , also all the others were created , like:
.DNA_BackTranslation
.DTSS_GlobalTimeServers
.MCC
.MCC_Bridge_BAcktranslation
.NCC_Station_BackTranslation
Third question: What to do next?
Thanks

1221.1 | Please describe your namespace. | NSSG::R_SPENCE | Nets don't fail me now... | Mon Jul 08 1991 11:58 | 10 |
| Can you take a moment to describe your namespace? What I mean is what
nameservers are there, what clearinghouses are there and which
directories are replicated where?
Check the DNS TDFs on each of the clearinghouses to make sure they are
correct.
Sounds like propogate isn't working right.

1221.2 | two identical NS systems on the net - no work | CLARID::PATEL | We'll get it right on the night | Tue Jul 30 1991 11:18 | 13 |

RE .0, .1
May be some humble pie required here, right on the ball....
We had two systems with the same name space (name) and the same
clearing house name on the same Ethernet, took one of the systems off
the net and all works fine.....
sorry,
Amrit
