Hi: I have a customer with several cisco routers and he wants to manage them using DEC products, but he wonders (and me too) at what extent can cisco be managed considering that, at this point, they are only routing DECnet traffic (TCPI/IP will come later). - Can I manage ALL the DECnet parameters in the cisco, but having access to it only via SNMP? (and assuming an MIB2) I believe that the only way to get to the ciscos (from mcc or MSU) is using SNMP, right? - Can management of cisco be done in a different way? I mean, not SNMP. - Will next release of BMS include some aid to manage cisco easily? Something similar to what is included with MSU? - Can mcc/MSU integrate/interoperate with other network management products for cisco management (including the management tool provided by cisco)? At which extent? Thanks in advance, Mario p.s. Cross posted in NETMGT, MCC, MSU

Mario, The currently shipping version of the DECmcc TCPIP/SNMP Access Module (V1.0) supports management of MIB I objects. The next release of the Access Module (V1.1) will support MIB II and allow users to dynamically extend the capability of the Access Module to manage vendor specific management objects. If cisco's snmp agent provides for management of DECnet specific parameters, and they have a concise mib definition of those parameters, then the upcoming release of the DECmcc TCPIP/SNMP AM will provide the management capability you're looking for.
