1207.0. "Vitalink AM Instal failure " by TROU47::SLEE () Tue Jul 02 1991 11:53

I have just installed the 1.1 SSB of DECmcc. I then installed
the 1.0-0 version of the TSAM. Both installs went fine.

While installing the latest version of the Vitalink AM, I
	recieved this failure:

%VMSINSTAL-I-MOVEFILES, Files will now be moved to their target directories...

Beginning DECmcc Translan AM Post Installation Procedure ...

You need a PAK. If this is a Digital system, it's probably available on the
net (see the kit note). If it's a customer's, there's another way (which I
don't know).

    Steve.

There is no PAK for the Translan AM. The KITINSTAL is checking for
DECMCC-BMS. The packaging malarkey that's going on with DECmcc makes LMF
checking a major pain in the ass...

I ran into this problem installing at Vitalink's first beta site (they had
DECmcc EMS installed ok-fine, but no BMS). They *should* have been ok,
since BMS is a subset of EMS, but the KITINSTAL only checked for *BMS* and
    not finding that, it barfed.

I have since updated the KITINSTAL.COM for the AM kit to also check for
    existence of DECMCC-DIRECTOR, DECMCC-EMS or DECMCC-SMS paks.

    That should fix the problem.

    regards,
    /doug

    P.S.
If you do decide to re-install the AM, you probably should delete the
TRANSLAN and TRANSLAN_AM entries in the Dictionary before beginning,
otherwise the installation will bomb out when it tries to update the
    dictionary.

This latest copy of the TRANSLAN AM kit is basically the same except that
it automatically augments the AM for Historian/Export FMs at install time
and it includes a *partial* online help file (with quite a few known
    errors, I might add.)

    /doug
