1202.0. "Other directors..." by SUOSW4::HARDT (Daniel Hardt,EIS/Germany,765-5286) Mon Jul 01 1991 06:19

    How do we position us (DECmcc) in talking to other director
    implementations in some specific way:

    Do we have to "open" director/director communication services ?
    Can it be done with our CMIP AM ?
    ???

1202.1NMF/CMIP has been shownENUF::GASSMANMon Jul 08 1991 12:169
    At a recent trade show in the UK, DECmcc Director was demonstrated with
    the BT Concert system, using a prototype NMF/CMIP management module.
    DECmcc can be positioned as the 'manager of managers', or as an
    'element manager' - since it can do both. In this situation, DECmcc
    was the 'element manager'. As NMF/CMIP becomes more popular, market
    interest will be assessed, and who knows, it may become a product. I'd
    think that it would appear as a service integration solution first.

1202.2yes we are implementing an Open OSI managerTOOK::MATTHEWSFri Jul 12 1991 15:5612
    TBG in Valbonne have a group of people working on providing an OSI
    manager based upon the DECmcc architectural platform. The product
    is called PNMP (Public Network Management Platform). The project
    leader is Marc Flauw (TAEC::FLAUW). The proposal includes an OSI
    AM to manage OSI objects (either native objects or those implemented
    in an element management system) and an OSI AGENT PM which allows
    other OSI Managers to manage OSI objects implemented in PNMP or
    DECmcc. The communication between managers will be IS CMIP. The
    product is currently under development. The answer is that yes it
    is an open system.
