1197.0. "Memory for multiple users" by ROM01::CANCELLIERI (Bruno Cancellieri @RIO) Fri Jun 28 1991 05:46

Buongiorno,

can someone tell me how much memory is needed when multiple users work
simultaneouly on DECmcc using VT1300 terminals and the iconic map interface?

And what is the maximum number of users? (two cases: all FORMS and all ICONIC
MAP users)?

In other words: is there a practical rule to know the amount of memory required
for any combination of FORMS and ICONIC MAP users? (I need to know it for a
Network Management Planning consultancy)

Thanks
bruno

1197.1What's the total resources used by multiple users of DECmcc?OSLACT::BJORNOnce againTue Aug 06 1991 06:5425
Hi,

I'm having the same type of question as .-1

One of our partners writing MMs are now planning different configurations
for use of DECmcc for their customers. They are looking into offering a solution
that consists of two VS3100-76 in a VAXCluster with common disks, and two VT1300
to be used in conjunction with the VS3100's. This means that up to four users
could be running DECmcc at the same time. Their concerns around this are;

1. How much memory is needed on each of the workstations?
	a. When running only DECmcc
	b. When running other applications on the VT1300
2. Are there any limitations to the number of users supported by DECmcc?
3. What kind of license do they need for running DECmcc from multiple nodes
   in a VAXcluster?
4. Are there any problems in using this kind of configuration for running DECmcc?
5. Are there any experience in using DECmcc this way?

I'm sure a lot of people have the same questions, but who can answer?

The customer is Alcatel/STK in Norway developing their own NMS based on DECmcc
for their new series of PABX's.
