| fcl is less pickie...if you try to register from FCL we take the
fullname as you entered it and use that. The iconic map interface
though knows what you *should* have for a DNS setup and enforces it.
My guess is you didn't created the DNS translation directories for
storing the SNMP info. I think it is in the release notes...any help
from some one whoo did this?

1062.2 | similar problem ! | SNOC02::MISNETWORK | Take a byte | Thu May 30 1991 00:06 | 6 |

I get the same error as in .0, using both the ICONIC map and FCL. The
DNS directories were/are setup as per release notes.
Beats me ?

1062.3 | What was the registration command | CLAUDI::PETERS | | Thu May 30 1991 10:15 | 16 |
| You entered the error text from your register command in your note,
but not the syntax of the register command.
If your command was (which it looks like it was from the error
message):
REGISTER SNMP SNMP.node
I don't think that works. You must specify
REGISTER SNMP node
Because the object name is stored in the DNS directory (MCC_IP),
not in a directory specified by you.

1062.4 | It's in the Use guide | MKNME::DANIELE | | Thu May 30 1991 12:02 | 6 |
| The "No Such Entity" exception means the global entity name could not be
translated by the TCP/IP software (UCX).
In this case it looks like you expect there to be a TCP/IP
system on your internet with a host name of SNMP.node. Please check
this via the UCX show host command.
