    I have a customer (oh, the sins that begin with that phrase) who has
    masses of Cisco and Synoptics routers/bridges and a few VAXen.
    
    Does anyone have VMS AM's for Cisco and/or Synoptics, now or soon?
    The customer only wants (for now, at least) to be able to monitor (not
    control) them.
    
    This could bring in a little business this quarter, and bigger gobs of
    business in the future. Your help will be noisily appreciated!

    p.s. - Yes, I know, given enough time and money we/they could build
    'em. But I'd like to show them one, first.

	The simple answer is "sorta". The existing TCPIP AM that uses the SNMP protocol will allow some monitoring (to the MIB 1 level) of the Cisco and Synoptics devices (and I am assuming that they currently support some sort of SNMP agent). In the next version of the TCPIP AM much more will be supported. s/rob

	I may be speaking out of turn, but the V1.2 SNMP AM will support MIB II and MIB extensions. I believe that allows you to actually support both CISCO and SYNOPTICS with the V1.2 SNMP AM. You may find that the CISCO extensions will be part of the V1.2 package. I haven't heard that the engineering team will test with SYNOPTICS so that may be an exercise left to the account teams but it is a lot easier than developing a full AM. wally

	the MSU (management station or ultrix) I believe supports at least cisco now, and then you could move over to the EMA compliant mcc directory with V1.2 (I you are looking for a quick sale).

	Right. This customer is a VMS bigot (as I am, I regret to admit), however. Undaunted, I asked if they'd be interested in the ULTRIX station but they declined. Thanks for the input! - Larry.
