I never have been able to get HELP on the ICONIC MAP. Always the Iconic Map process terminated. I never wrote the error message. Now starting the investigation, I noted the error message: "Xtoolkit: BadIDChoice, Invalid resource ID for this connection." What could be wrong with my environment? Am I supposed to receive a context sensitive HELP ? Regards, Dominique.

948.1 | HELP works now. | KETJE::PACCO | Wed Apr 24 1991 14:54 | 10
Once I deleted the the TCPIP domain, deregisterd it, created a new one and repopulated the domain (Cfr note 929.*) also the problems in selecting "HELP" from the ICONIC MAP also went away. Now HELP seems to work fine. Other question: How can we find out which KEYWORDS exists in the ICONIC MAP HELP ? Regards, Dominique.
948.2 | why? | TOOK::CALLANDER | Wed Apr 24 1991 16:51 | 19
do you want the list of keywords because you are developing a module and want to know where to plug things in, or are you just a curious user? The tool we call HFB (Help File Builder) produces a list of topics and keywords as a byproduct of the HFB run. I believe that the creation of the keyword files is the default. To run HFB do the following: $ set def sys$common:[mcc] $ manage/tool/help $ type mcc_character_cell_help.top $ type mcc_decwindows_help.top The .top files are of the format: topic sub_topic hfb_keyword To look at the topic files I would suggest that you user a 132 column format.
948.3 | KEYWORD expansion for ignorants. | KETJE::PACCO | Thu Apr 25 1991 05:40 | 10
It's more as a curious user. Sitting in front of the ICONIC MAP, I selected "HELP", found "keywords" and then I was lost. I selected a few as "VERBS, etc..." without success. Something as "EXPAND KEYWORDS" to avoid additional documentation could be a plus. Regards, Dominique. |
