Following is an update on the Codex 9800 Access Module for DECmcc systems. To use the Access Module, customers must have the Codex 9800 network management system running in their network. Codex has made substantial progress on its access module and is currently accepting RPQs (request project quotes) from customers. Once Codex determines which devices customers want to manage through DECmcc, it will turn its access module into a formal product. The cost of the access module depends on the number of Codex devices the customer wants to manage. However, for budgetary purposes, customers can assume that the cost will be approximately $30,000. If customers would like more information from Codex they can call Jeff Walker, Director of Network Management Marketing in Canton, Massachusetts. His number is (617) 821-7326. Dave

Dave: Does this mean the customer has to buy Codex's 9800 system, AND some form of the DECmcc base system, AND then another 30K for the AM?
942.2 | 30K not that much in context... | DELNI::TERZIAN | Wed Apr 24 1991 14:18 | 9
Actually, $30K isn't that much when you consider that prospective customers already have the Codex 9800 management system since they are likely to be managing large networks. The 9800 ranges from a low of about $40K to a high of about $100K. Add to this the tens of thousands of dollars of network equipment and leased lines and the $30K doesn't seem so high. Dave |
