909.0. "alarms without polling" by MAIL::HELTON () Thu Apr 11 1991 18:30
I think I must be overlooking something very basic with the alarms FM.
I would like to set up an alarm for the decnet nodes that will fire
when the node drops off the network.
I see examples that will "poll" the nodes at specified intervals to
check for reachability.
Is there a way to accomplish this using an alarm rule for an entity
event that does not poll each node over and over?
My customer does not feel that polling every 5 to 10 minutes will be
acceptable.
Thanks,
Gary Helton
