895.0. "REQUEST: Maintain position of Operations box" by COOKIE::KITTELL (Richard - Architected Info Mgmt) Wed Apr 10 1991 11:57
V1.1 SSB
The option of having a list box for the selection of operations, in addition
to the pulldown menu, is most useful.
After selecting an operation, if instead of clicking on OK one clicks on
Apply, the box stays up. Especially useful is the way the operations list
is automatically updated whenever a new object class is selected. But when
that occurs, the box is repositioned to its initial position, centered
over the dialog window. Since I keep the box up, I tend to move it out of
the way, but it moves back whenever it updates.

| Selecting another entity causes the dialog box to be rebuilt. It was easier
to rebuild it than to find out what changed inside it.
The code retrieves the values of the x,y coordinates prior to rebuilding it.
The problem is that the x,y coordinates retrieved (via XtGetValues) were not
updated to reflect the new position when you moved it. I never had time to
figure out what is causing this. It is on my list of things to look at but is
a low priority.

| I agree with Richard, it is very useful but is annoying that it keeps going back
to the middle of the MAP window.
