856.0. "MIR could not be initialized..." by VINO::LUNDGREN (John - ISB/ASAP SSE - 297-5537) Mon Apr 01 1991 12:07
I am getting the following installation error when installing the
V1.1 SSB BMS kit on one of our workstations. Please note that
this workstation uses the same private namespace as a workstation
that had no problems with the V1.1 SSB installation.
Does anyone have any insights?
Thanks,
John

856.1 | A couple of things to try... | TOOK::GUERTIN | I do this for a living -- really | Mon Apr 01 1991 13:56 | 17 |
| The last time I saw this problem, the system had it's time set wrong.
Are you using DECdts (DTSS) ?
Also, please post the following information:
$ DIRECTORY/SIZE/DATE MCC_SYSTEM:MCC_MIR*.DAT
results of
$ SHOW LOGICAL MCC_TDF
and
$ SHOW TIME
Thanks,
-Matt.

856.2 | The date was wrong | VINO::PRATT | | Mon Apr 01 1991 14:38 | 10 |
|
Bingo... the date was set to 1-APR-1990 not 1991.
Obviously operator error however the error message doesn't help very much.
Thanks,
Mark

856.3 | I think the MIR / System time behavior is QARed. | TOOK::GUERTIN | So many bugs, so little time | Mon Apr 01 1991 15:38 | 7 |
| Yes, it is ugly. Are you sure there isn't an April Fool's prankster
running around? What are the odds of the system time being off by
one year on April Fools day? BTW: VMS in general can get very confused
(never mind products like CMS), when the system time is set
incorrectly.
