| But, it will be fixed before it ships, right? There is no way that
it can go to a customer in that form.

| Re .0 :
Surely if you use DAP to modify the "presentation name" definition of
the Terminal server from "terminal server", say to "DECserver" (i.e. reduce
the length from 15 to 9 characters, and then rebuild the parse tables,
it should work ? I expect them PM's pick up the name from the
dictionary / Parse tables ?
I'll give it a try this afternoon and let you know. If it fails, I'll
just have to reinstall the TSAM kit!!!

Management considered time to market a higher priority than this bug.
It will be fixed in the next release.
re:.4
Changing the presentation name should do the trick.

| A bit more clarification is necessary...
If you modify the presentation name of the TERMINAL_SERVER
entity, make sure you also rename the icon file MCC_TERMINAL_SERVER_ICON.DAT
to MCC_DECSERVER_ICON.DAT.
There may be other implications with data stored (e.g., alarm rules)
using the old presentation name.
I am not sure if changing the name will affect the DNS use of the
MCC_TERNIMAL_SERVER_BACKTRANSLATION directory. I don't think so but I am not
an expert in this area.

846.7 | Please clarify a bit more? | NSSG::R_SPENCE | Nets don't fail me now... | Fri Apr 05 1991 15:38 | 14 |
| Jim, are you saying that the product manager for the Terminal Server AM
says the current presentation of the icon lable in the toolbox is
acceptible to ship to customers?
If so, please let me know who that is because in all cases that I have
shown the product to internal people or customers it has been assumed
by all that this was an internal baselevel oversight and there is no
way we would compromise the product quality by failing to correct it in
the released version.
I agree with them. It is much too obvious an issue to leave in the
product.

846.8 | It will be fixed in next release | BSYBEE::EGOLF | John C. Egolf LKG2-2/T02 x226-7874 | Fri Apr 05 1991 15:47 | 23 |
| Rob,
The actual "problem" is in the DECmcc V1.1 system, not really
with the Terminal Server AM.
V1.1 is done. Its in SSB. We're not pulling it back for this.
We need to make some money. With DECstock at:
2:30pm DEC 63 3/4, change -0 7/8; DJIA 2894.56, change -29.94
I think many people would agree.
If the Terminal Server people would like to chance their Global
Entity class name, that would be fine, but it would have to be
forever once the product ships. It would mean that the
documentation would have to be re-done (updated).
Nobody disagrees the overprint is ugly. It is one of many ugly
things. I agree it needs to be fixed. I commit that it will
be fixed in our next version.
