Using the Terminal Server AM, I have found that you can register, but
not manage a DECserver 100 if it has been loaded with the V1.x
PS0801ENG.SYS image. You must have V2.x for everything to work as
advertised.
With V1.x, I can register and see the entity on the iconic map, but I
get a "Target does not respond" error message when I try to look at or
change anything.
Download the V2.x image into the server, deregister the entity, then
re-register it. All works fine.

Can you manage it from FCL? What commands are failing? /Jim | |||||

Dan -
The Terminal Server AM (like TSM) supports DS100 software versions
V1.2 - V2.0. You said in your first note that it wouldn't work
with V1.x ... did you actually try the V1.2 software?
Thanks, Lynne

| 837.3 | DS100 Requested operation not accepted by target entity | CUJO::HILL | Fri Apr 26 1991 22:54 | 22 | |
RE: .1 The commands used from the FCL were:
MCC> REGISTER TERMINAL_SERVER .DECDS3 ADDRESS=08-00-2B-XX-XX-XX, TYPE=DS100
MCC> SET TERMINAL_SERVER .DECDS3 DECNET ADDRESS=2.63, -
_MCC> SERVICE CIRCUIT={SVA-0,QNA-1}
Registration is successful. I can SHOW ... ALL IDENTIFIERS, but the
command SHOW TERMINAL_SERVER .DECDS3 SHOW ALL CHARACTERISTICS fails
with the error "Requested operation not accepted by target entity".
This happens from both Iconic Map PM and FCL PM.
RE: .2 I am running Terminal Server V1.3 (BL15B) LAT V5.1 on this
server. I have other servers which I have been able to upgrade to V2.0
and will soon upgrade the final 6 DS100s, so the point will be moot,
but I just thought you might want to know.
I have also been causing ACCVIOs using the TS_AM, but I don't find out
about it until I exit the Iconic Map and return to my initial DECterm
window. My process does not die, either. I exit normally, but just
find an ACCVIO message greeting me as I exit. I'll take some time to
try to repeat it and let you know what I find.
