802.0. "Can't register terminal server" by ANDRIS::putnins (Hands across the Baltics) Fri Mar 15 1991 17:54

I've installed the TSAM on my SBB version of DECmcc BMS V1.1, and it
passes the IVP correctly. The DECdns backtranlation directory exists,
but I still cannot register any terminal servers. I'm using a server
that I know exists and is reachable, because I can access it with TSM
(from another node). However, I get the following error when I try to register it:

MCC> register terminal_server .TS_ACI1B5 address 08-00-2B-08-B2-95, type ds200

Terminal_Server LOCAL:.TS_ACI1B5
AT 15-MAR-1991 16:26:53

The requested operation cannot be completed

Any ideas on what's wrong?

802.1Is TSAM enabled?SCRPIO::LIZBICKIMon Mar 18 1991 11:4312
   Andy -

   I believe the reason you are getting this error is that you have not
   enabled the Terminal Server AM. The fact that the Terminal Server
   AM does not return the correct error in this case has been QAR'd.

   The command for enabling the Terminal Server AM is:

	ENABLE MCC 0 TERMSERVER_AM

Now I'm getting a different error. How do I figure out what name is duplicated?

802.3How come ENABLE?NSSG::R_SPENCENets don't fail me now...Mon Mar 18 1991 13:364
    Why do we have to ENABLE the AM? We don't have to do that on all the
    other management modules.

     Please see note 926.1 for an explanation on why TSAM needs the
     ENABLE/DISABLE directives.
