792.0. "Terminal Server registsration problem Terminal Server registration Problem " by ZUR01::SCHNEIDERR () Wed Mar 13 1991 07:53

Hello,

I try to register a Terminal Server and I have the following Problem.

MCC> register terminal GGL201 address = 08-00-2B-06-B5-62, type = DS200

Terminal_Server NCC003_NS:.GGL201
AT 13-MAR-1991 13:50:24

The requested operation cannot be completed
MCC Routine Error = %MCC-W-ENTUNKNOWN, unknown entity: !AD
MCC>
MCC>

I read the article about the installation failure, but I still run EFT V1.1 and
the installation went o.k. ( I mean without errormessages).

I don't know much about the Terminal Server AM, but that error sounds like a
DNS backtranslation directory wasn't created.

What directory would be missing to cause that?

I had to create the .MCC_TERMINAL_SERVER_BACKTRANSLATION directory.

$run sys$system:dns$control
create directory .MCC_TERMINAL_SERVER_BACKTRANSLATION

as it is done in the 'MCC_DNS_TSAM_SETUP.COM' procedure in 'mcc_system'

Yes, it is documented in the release notes that the user needs to
   create the dns directory .MCC_TERMINAL_SERVER_BACKTRANSLATION

We will be changing the release notes for the final release however,
to recommend the use of MCC_COMMON:MCC_DNS_SETUP.COM, for creating
the directory, rather than using DNS$CONTROL directly or
MCC_DNS_TSAM_SETUP.COM (which will be removed from the kit).
