788.0. "DECmcc BMS V1.1 SSB over EFT Impact?" by LTLKNG::TAZBOY::ZIGLER (Tom Zigler DTN:432-7541) Tue Mar 12 1991 08:29

We are running the DECmcc BMS V1.1 EFT software on a VMS V5.4 system
and are planning to install the DECmcc BMS V1.1 SSB software over this
earlier release. What things such as iconic map files, alarms,
registrations, etc. will need to be restored after the install? How is
    this restoration accomplished?

    Please advise.

    			\Thanks in Advance

Hi Tom,

As far as I can tell, you will not have to do anything to make Alarms work
on V1.1 SSB kit. All the rules that you have created using V1.1 EFT are
still operational. As a precaution you could rule the utility

	sys$system:MCC_ALARMS_EXTRACT_RULES.EXE

This utility will extract all the rules in your database and save it
in a text file. You can use this text file to recreate the rules
by simply using the text file as a MCC command procedure.

I will leave up to the ICONIC map and Registrations folks to answer
rest of your question. Also please read the Release notes that
are shipped with the Kit!

is V1.1 shipping now with all orders for BMS/SMS/EMS?

    If not, when?

    					Thx, Stan

DECmcc V1.1 (Director, BMS, Toolkit) just went to SSB (aka SDC)
last week. It usually takes SSB 6 weeks to turn things around
	to actually SHIP the product.

The SMS (V2.1) and EMS (V2.1) package with DECmcc V1.1 will lag
about 1 extra month because of point product enhancements.

As to registration and map changes, I haven't had any problems with my
upgrade...but I did all of the interims as well.

the only thing I know to watch for is if you change the location of your
DNS server then you will have stuff to do.
