At the moment I cannot setup my own namespace, so I want to set up MCC under DEC:.sno.s . I know that MCC always uses the default namespace, but is there someway with setting up logicals that I can get MCC to point to .sno.s. I have tried doing the following - $ create/name_table dns_process_table $ define/table=lnm$process_directory dns$logical - dns_process_table,dns$system $ define/table=dns_process_table DNA_BACKTRANSLATION "sno.s.DNA_BACKTRANSLATION" $ define/table=dns_process_table DNA_NODESYNONYM "sno.s.DNA_NODESYNONYM" $ define/table=dns_process_table mcc_bridge_backtranslation - "sno.s.mcc_bridge_backtranslation" $ define/table=dns_process_table mcc_uid "sno.s.mcc_uid" $ define/table=dns_process_table mcc "sno.s.mcc" so when I do a DNS> SHOW DIR MCC it points to .sno.s.mcc . But MCC still goes to DEC:. when I go to register a NODE4 for example. What can I do if anything ?? i know that this has been brought up before, but I am just hoping that someone has cracked it ! 754.1 | DNS names are not translated | TOOK::KWAK | Mon Mar 04 1991 10:07 | 32
RE: .0 ------ The current MCC (V1.1) uses the full names which start with a period (.). And, the DNS does not attempt to translate the first simple name as a logical name. The DNS tries to translate the first simple name only if the full name does not start with name space or a period. For example, when MCC looks for synonym link for node "anchor", it uses the fullname ".DNA_NODESYNONYM.anchor". In this case, DNS will not consider the first simple name "DNA_NODESYNONYM" as a logical name since the full name starts with a period. MCC does not have control over .DNA_NODESYNONYM and .DNA_BACKTRANSLATION directories. These directories have to be in the root directory of a name space, and are not defined by MCC. You may define MCC directories (".MCC", ".MCC_BRIDGE_BACKTRANSLATION", etc.) to be placed in non-root directory of the name space. This re-definion of MCC directories are for internal test purpose only. Please note that MCC_UID directory is no longer used in MCC V1.1. Please refer to note 652.* for more information on DNS default name space. Thanks for your question. William

Thanks for the reply. I ended up installing DNS on my VAXstation with my own namespace, and installed MCC there. All works fine. Chers, Louis |
