727.0. "platform requirements" by JETSAM::WOODCOCK () Fri Feb 15 1991 17:08
Hi,
We are looking to put something together around guidelines for the internal
field for hardware. Specifics around disk space and CPU horsepower. For
now lets keep it simple. If I want phase iv router (error and packet
thruput) and circuit (error and utilization) statistics at my calling,
how much disk space is required by historian to poll a router to get
the exec counters on a per poll basis? How much space is required for each
circuit on a per poll basis? Is it correct to say that the requirements
double if it's also being exported? The EFT training course gave a figure
of 215 bytes but I'm not sure what it's for. Is this the number I'm looking
for?
Capacity measurements state 52.2% CPU utilization for 12,000 polls per
hour. Is this a 3100 or a Cray :-) ? Could someone better define what type
of polling was done and what the average network delay was. I'd like to
relate polls per hour to a CPU size (regardless of what the poll is used
for, historical or monitoring), has this been done yet? Has any
performance testing been done on alarms using getevent continuously?
thanks,
brad...
