| I also have a customer with this question. They have a variety
of VAX's, SUN's, Cisco routers, and lots of "other". They use the
MULTINET software and asked the same MULTINET--UCX questions.

| In general, any two TCP/IP products on VMS cannot share an Ethernet
controller, since they take exclusive ( nonshareable ) use of some
of the TCP/IP protocols at the Ethernet level. UCX is no exception.
The V1.0 TCP/IP SNMP access module used UCX's QIO interface, so
UCX is required. I've since recoded the AM's I/O module to use the
standard TCP/IP socket interface. This means, IN THEORY, that the
AM should work with "anyone's" TCP/IP product that provides a socket
routine library.
The current thinking is that the next release of the access module
may be linked against anyone's TCP/IP on site.
