Hi there, Will there be any support in the future for the HISTORIAN to capture and use data from EVENTS? For example, event 0.8 notifies the user that the counters have automatically zeroed. But in doing this it sends the counter info before resetting the values to zero. I couldn't help but notice that GETEVENT displayed the info. If HISTORIAN had the ability to capture and store this data it could be used by PA and EXPORTER just like the polled data is today. All the network manager need do is set the counter timer and sink the event. The timer would be set for the granularity of reports needed. If the report detail is needed down to the hour a setting of 3600 is appropriate. This would be the ULTIMATE for a network manager and would also reduce MCC resource needs (no more polling)!! Anything in the works for investigating the potential of this Class A approach? cheers, brad...

The Notification FM team and the Historian team have been discussing just this. The major obstacle we had was that the event (or to use our term, the occurrence) data was not of the same format as the attribute information. The problems are all surmountable, at this time though I do not know when/if this is scheduled. |
