State of affairs:
We just upgraded to 5.4 and became instantly sensitized to the
nastiness of this annoying bug. It turns out that we can sort of
hide it if we set the windowBackground resource in the
sys$login:mcc_resource.dat file to a named color such as "light blue",
"red", "green", what have you.
Also, this afternoon we piped a window from a 5.4 system to a 5.4-1
system and the lines never appeared. We ran with and without the
background color set.
What version do you have, 5.4 or 5.4-1?

| RE:.1 I'm running V5.4
Is it a fairly simply matter to make the background color changes that you
describe or is this something best left alone?

| Ok....I've experimented a bit with the MCC_RESOURCE.DAT file and amoung other
things, I've found some really awful color combinations.
I've not been able to get the lines to go away.
Some observations.....
I can't change the color of the Text.....I dont' find any option in this
file for change of text color....mine always comes out Tan.
I've noticed that the mcc_pml.map_iconBackground: color is ignored and
defaults to the mcc_pml.map_windowBackground: color.
I've noticed that I have terrible taste in colors.....
I'll play around a bit more an report back....

| RE:.3
Sorry, I see now that the icon background does work and is independent of
the map background......
The text appears to match that of the text color of the workstation....
I still have terrible taste in colors....

.iconBackground is currently ignored.
Text is drawn using the defaults from the SM.

Let me clarify .1
The vertical line bug seems to go away when you set the windowBackground
resource to a named color *IF* you have the kit yet to be released.
The bug does not go away with any previously released kit.
Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
