563.0. "Migration Tools EMA-NMCC/DM?" by MINDER::BANKS (Yee canny change the Laws of Physics) Tue Dec 18 1990 09:17

Will there be/are there any migration tolls for the existing DECnet
Monitor user, to help him move to EMA Director and associated products,
    (AMs, PMs, etc)?

My customer has NMCC DM with an awful lot of nodes on it, generating
several reports, and he doesn't want to manually key all the configs in
    by hand again.

Hi,

I'm NOT aware dof any tools to directly transfer/export all the monitoring
nodes from a NMCC/DM database to the MCC database at this time. However,
included with the MCCEMS020 kit, there is a procedure called
MCC_DNS_SETUP.COM which have option to convert a NCP database into
MCC script and then use this to laod into the DNS datasbase.

In this way, you can customized your version of the NCP database which
has only the entries which is currently defined on your customer NMCC/DM
and then use the MCC procedure to produce the MCC script, once this has
generated, then you can register all of the node on DNS v=by running
        these MCC scripts.

Just a thought to get thin done quicker ( I hopes !! )

There are currently no available NMCC/DECnet Monitor database
conversion tools, although Digital has publicly stated that a
tool for each of the "older" point products will be provided.

No timeframes were given. No timeframes are available at this
point for NMCC/DM (unless someone out there has written such a
    tool).
