552.0. "Analyzing Ethernet Adapter Throughput" by RCOJDS::SHOWALTER (Jay Showalter) Thu Dec 13 1990 10:56
One question that seems to be coming my way more and more is whether there is a
way to determine the total network traffic passing through a DEMNA/DEBNI/etc.
Does DECmcc provide such a facility? Can it also break out the distribution
of network traffic by protocol?
As we use more and more multi-protocol networks, it is important to be able to
understand this in full detail. Looking at DECnet traffic, you may state that
there is little load being placed upon the Ethernet adapter. However, it could
be swamped with MSCP packets and causing a DECnet delay.
