---> 2) It would be nice to be able to show ALL ATTRIBUTES of an entity.
---> Currently, you can only see the various partitions.
I am confused by this. By definition, all attributes must be part
of a partition. Therefore if you show all the attributes from all
of the partitions, you should be seeing them all. Instead do you
mean that you want to see all of the attributes for this entity
and all of its children?

530.2 | Maybe he wants it to work like FCL PM... | CHRISB::BRIENEN | DECmcc Bridge|Station Management. | Fri Dec 07 1990 15:35 | 9 |
| Just a guess:
Maybe he's wondering why he can specify the ALL ATTRIBUTES group using
the FCL PM, but isn't allowed to with the Iconic Map PM.
Something like ALL ATTRIBUTES would be really nice for entities with only
a few attributes, but attributes that are spread across multiple Partitions
(e.g. Bridge's PHYSICAL ENTRY).

RE: .2
This is exactly what I'm looking for. In addition, in a couple of
respects the ICONIC MAP has reduced functionality. Namely, what the
user can manage (only registered objects) and what the user can see
(only attribute partitions). System and Netywork Manager's coming from
the FCL environment may have a problem with this.

| Jon,
In the Iconic Map, the user can see both attribute partitions and attribute
groups which are defined in the MSL.
Being able to display all attributes from all partitions in one management
window is a good one (and has also been mentioned by others). I'll put it
on a list for V1.2.
Thanks for the input.

530.5 | T1.1 IMPM nit/suggestion | MCDOUG::MCPHERSON | i'm only 5 foot one | Thu Dec 13 1990 15:54 | 20 |
| Re .last few
You can "sorta" do a "SHOW ALL ATTR" if you chose the "List Box" rather
than the "Pulldown Menu" interaction style and just select each of the
attribute partitions before hitting the "start" button. The *problem*
with that is you get a separate window pop for each attribute partition
selected. I DO agree that it'd be nice to see all attributes displayed
on a single form.
Now to add my own to the "nice to have" list:
It'd be nice if: I didn't have to re-do the entire form for a rule
every time I mis-type an item. When creating an alarm rule from the
IMPM, if you fill out the form incorrectly and then hit the "OK"
button, the rule creation will fail. Fine. Even though the IMPM does
give me another shot at redemption by giving me a new form, it doesn't
make it easy (I get a BLANK form for the rule). Why can't I just get
my *original* form back with the bogus fields either flagged or erased?

| Doug,
Your wish is our command.
If you make an error in the rule form, the original form is redisplayed for
you to fix. Also the big add entity form now has resizing capability.
These fixes will be in the next version of the software.
