512.0. "PROBLEM: Invalid String Desc from DAP on class load" by COOKIE::KITTELL (Richard - Architected Info Mgmt) Tue Dec 04 1990 11:23

Since upgrading to T1.1.0, DAP complains about the .COM file produced
by the MSL compiler. Tbe .MS files compile without error.

The command involved is

$ MANAGE/TOOLKIT/DICT LOAD CLASS MEDIALIBRARY FROM ATLAS_AM_SRVC.COM

The error messages produced by DAP are

%MCC-E-DEFNOTREGISTRD, definition not registered
%MCC-E-INV_DESC, invalid string descriptor encountered

The .COM file can be copied from

COOKIE::AIM$PUBLIC:[AMI]ATLAS_AM_SRVC.COM

512.1Please check the date of your Meta Definition fileTOOK::GUERTINI have an in_e, you have an out_eTue Dec 04 1990 13:0818
    Richard,

    The only time I have seen this error message is if you have an old
    meta definition files.

    These two files should be in MCC_SYSTEM with the same dates:

    MCC_META_DEFINITION.DAT  14-NOV-1990 13:54:18.63
    MCC_META_DICTIONARY.DAT  18-JUN-1990 16:26:09.38

    If the Meta Definition is older than the above date, you need to get
    ahold of the right file. It is on the T1.1.0 Kit, or I can mail you
    one (it's in ASCII format).

    -Matt.

    Let me know if this is the problem. If it isn't, then we need some
    serious debugging.
512.2CLOSED: Meta file was the culpritCOOKIE::KITTELLRichard - Architected Info MgmtTue Dec 04 1990 14:2710
Matt,

That was it! I had a developer's dictionary copy, and the MCC*META*.DAT files
didn't get updated.

I'll change the title of the base note to make this easier to find by
that symptom.

Thanks.
