Has anyone used DECmcc to talk to Sun's SNMP agents (if they have them)? Also, has anyone used DECmcc to communicate with Sun's Ethernet boards, in the same way that you can do it with our boards, by defining/configuring an Ethernet station? I would appreciate any and all feedback on these issues. Ie, do Sun ship SNMP with SunOS? How do you configure it so DECmcc can talk to it, etc? Regards Richard Sharpe

Hi Richard, My understanding is that Sun does not ship an SNMP agent. They would rather you use SunNet Manager which handles Sun OS in a proprietary manner. I believe DEC's ASDS group has developed an SNMP agent for Sun. ( These are the folks doing DNT, aka Merlin, and now MSU. ) You might ask in APPLE::MSU. Regards, Mike

We have in the European/ACT in Valbonne a SUn station that we monitor and control through the SNMP AM . Manuel Morales who made this demosntration is at the EFT Training right now , he 'll provide more info. when he'll be back . Regards . MaRc

What is the current status regarding management of Sun systems via the tcpip AM? Does Sun include SNMP or another management agent which is only manageable via their platform or (as indicated in .2) is there a special AM avaiable within DEC? Thanks, Claudia |
