I have been trying to show access to a Macintosh with out much success. My environment is a VS3100, 24 Mb memory, VMS 5.4, DEcmcc IFT 1.1. The Mac has the SSB product installed on it. If I am doing something wrong or need to RTFM some more, let me know. 456.1 | Having the same problem, what is the solution?? | BELMNT::PIETRONIGRO | Thu Nov 15 1990 15:44 | 9
I am experiencing the same problem while trying to monitor a MAC running VMS Services for MAC. Also, I cannot add a MAC node to the iconic map interface of DECmcc. I am able to add PC's running PCSA for OS/2 and DOS with no problem. Did you experience the same problem? Is there any group within Digital that is working on monitoring PC's and MACs through DECmcc? I have been trying to get support and no one seems to know. Joanne
456.2 | request for information passed on | GOSTE::CALLANDER | Mon Nov 26 1990 09:33 | 9
Your message has been passed along to the dna4 project lead. Some one from that team should be responding soon. Sorry for the delay in responding but things have been quite hectic with preparations for EFT release and many people out sick with the flu. jill
456.3 | Looking at your Mac... | TOOK::CAREY | Tue Dec 11 1990 17:56 | 27
John, Thanks for speaking with me on the phone just now. We'll play with your Macintosh to see what we can learn about the idiosyncracies of DECnet/MAC. If it turns out to be straightforward to manage the Mac, then you can bet we will try to work changes in. If we understand the problem, and it isn't a big deal, then odds are good that we'll find a way. Incidentally, I started bouncing requests off the Macintosh a little while ago. I was able to get counters. I have been able to pick up almost every partition except for "Initial Attributes", but your note shows "Initial Attributes" as being there. Not sure what's going on. I'm also getting "NML object not found on remote node" a lot. It appears that the MacIntosh needs thirty seconds or so to reset its network management state. Is that similar to your results? sorry to take so long getting back in here. -Jim Carey |
