446.0. "Any Tutorials?" by FMCSSE::HEINTZE () Tue Oct 30 1990 18:35

I have this DECmcc System Reference Manual which looks pretty informative.
However, I find it pretty intimidating.

Q#1: Are there going to be any more classes on MCC? There was one recently
(in our building no less) and we missed it! Rats! There are about
8 of us in CXN2 (Colorado) that need to learn MCC. Any chance of us
getting a hold of the instructor? What is his/her name?

Q#2: Assuming the answer to the last question is no:
Are there any tutorials on MCC? How about the materials for the class?

Q#3: Assuming the answer to the last question is no:
What do you recommend for a method of getting started with MCC?

After thumbing thru the System Reference Manual I can only find one
example in C.

Q#4: I propose running some sample programs. Can someone provide me
with soft copies of the programs in the book?

Hmmm... I though MCC was purely a set of callable routines. Looks like
there is a new programming langauge (MSL) to learn too.

Q#5: If the System reference Manual is my only resource, where do you suggest
I start in here? In the beginning?

Q#6: Anybody got any sample programs I can have that they have written that
      use MCC components?

                                 Thanks,

                                 Sieg

There is a tutorial document in the DECmcc Developers' Toolkit. Its
part of the GZ kit. You might want to order a copy.

In addition, Jon Goodridge (TOOK::JSG) has been in the business of
giving DECmcc seminars to ISVs on developing access modules. You might
    contact Jon.

Finally, EduServices is supposed to be picking up responsibility for
giving the seminar that Jon and co. give to ISVs. To encourage this
seminar to happy sooner (rather than later), contact Joe Ward and Jim
    Trant.

    Some more info....

The class done in Colorado last month was taped. The tape and course
materials should be available shortly, you can send mail to
took::p_savage to find out more details as to when it will be
    available.

In the toolkit, along with the items mentioned by Mark, there is
also a sample access module, code an all, that is provided for playing
with. This is a subset of the phase 4 access module. Please note
that it is quite limited and use of the module should be done with
the toolkit guide to writing a management module right by your side.
