I can find no code in any of the MCC sources I have access to that
call the MIR alternate identifier routines.
(mcc_mir_translate_ident, mcc_mir_add_identifier,
mcc_mir_remove_identifier, mcc_mir_rename_identifier).
Maintaining secondary identifiers in the MIR is an expensive operation
in terms of both access time as well as support code so if these
routines are not needed we should think about phasing them out.
Perhaps you could let me know if:
1) I haven't looked in all the right places...
2) There will be code in place that's planning to use this stuff but
it's not here yet...
3) The routines would be used but they have a deficiency which is
xxxxx...

Historian FM uses mcc_mir_add_identifier routine when it creates
an entity being recorded in the Historical Instance Repository(HIR).
It gives Past Time IM an ability to find in HIR an entity specified
by any supported identifier.

The Terminal Server AM uses the routines mcc_mir_add_identifier
and mcc_mir_rename_identifier.

| Gee, so much for my ability to search through source code.
I'll make sure the Ultrix MIR supports these.
