Hello, There is a question which keeps coming up from customers and concerns performance / hardware requirements for DECmcc. A typical question is "what configuration do I need to manage a 50 node network", or "how many asynchronous events will DECmcc be able to manage per second on a 3100 ?" etc... Are there any configuration guidelines available ? Thanks for your help, Philippe.

Suggested Minimum Hardware --VAXstation 3100 M38, SPX w/VRT19 --Ethernet controller --20-Mbyte memory --RZ56 (665-Mbyte) disk drive --TZ30 ( 95-Mbyte) tape drive We are working with the DSTEG organization to get hard numbers on actual performance. When we feel confortable that they are accurate, they will be made available to those who would like to see them. Based upon current testing and some common sense, you should be able to manage "hundreds" on nodes on this above system. This of course assumes that polling rates for alarms and historical data collection are "reasonable" and that alarms fires are also "reasonable". This also assumes that DECmcc is all that is running. Can anyone recommend the best configuration for the MSU on a RISC platform?

Alex, APPLE::MSU might be a better place for DECmcc MSU system size questions. Amicalement, Philippe.
