415.0. "MCC Course" by NETCUR::WADE (Bill Wade T&N Course Development) Wed Oct 17 1990 16:35

I need your help. I am planning a customer course, Network Management
Using DECmcc V1.1, intended for end user network managers. I'd like to
nail down the major course topics and and am looking for input from
"experienced users" of V1.0 and IFT V1.1. My preliminary ideas are for a
five-day lecture/lab course covering the following topics:

      - EMA overview
      - Components and Functionality of DECmcc
(PM, FM, AM, MIR, Iconic Map interface, Toolkit, Use of DECdns...)
Basically what it is and how it works without getting too
            technical.
      - Installation and configuration
      - Troubleshooting common installation problems
      - Using DECmcc
            Commands, alarms, reports, troubleshooting
      - Introduction to AM development (maybe)

      - Lab H/W
          Extended LAN with 4 3100s, 2 DEBAMs and 2 DECserver 200s.

I know that everyone's time is tight, mine too. But, in order for me to
develop a first class course, I need input from people who have had
experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting and using the product.
From your experience what should the training include to enable the
customer to return to his/her job and successfully install and use
DECmcc V1.1? At this point nothing is written in stone so if you would
like to impact what goes into this course, now is the time to act.

I realize this topic is out of the MCC development arena, so please
respond to BILL WADE@LKG or NETCUR::WADE.

For the real enthusiast, I'll point you to a notes conf where you can track
    the development of the course.

    Looking forward to your input,
    Bill

415.1DECmcc Course PresentationNETCUR::WADEBill Wade T&N Course DevelopmentThu Dec 20 1990 15:4836
I am in the process of writing an EDucational Services course called
Network Management Using DECmcc. The target audience is both Customer
Service support personnel and Corporate Marketing end users
(Network Managers). The course is based on DECmcc V1.1, is scheduled
for completion on 29-Apr and is the first Ed Serv course on DECmcc.

I am planning an early module presentation on 14-JAN from 9-12 in the
Falmouth conference room (LKG2-2) and I need your help. I need about
ten warm bodies to sit in on the presentation. These people should
have either experience with network management or some network
	management knowledge.

The material will include a technical description of DECmcc concepts
and use. The purpose of this teach is to deliver the material and
uncover any potential problems. By doing this we eliminate problems
early in the course development process and deliver a quality course.
The benefits to participants are they have input into the course format
and content, and they learn a little bit about DECmcc during the
process. Also, donuts are on the house. What I expect from them is
to show up around 8:30 and sit through two hours of lecture. From
11-12 they will be questioned on the course format, content and general
	quality.

If you would like to volunteer or need further clarification please
get in touch. I would like to identify the participants by the end
      	of next week, 28-Dec.

	Regards,
	Bill Wade

The pilot for the Network Management Using DECmcc V1.1 course is
running next week. It is a five day lecture/lab course and I believe
there are a few open seats. If anyone is interested in attending
send me email. One condition is that you attend all five days.
