Is it necessary/wise to have all nodes in a cluster execute all the MCC startup files? MCC_STARTUP_{DIR,BMS,TK,BMS2}? The DIR startup defines the logicals, and obviously needs to be done everywhere. But the others do things like define an alarm and test it. Isn't there a chance that could collide if two nodes were doing it at the same time?

We know one thing was NOT clear about the last set of installation notes, "what do you need to install". Since installing the BMS kit includes all of the DIR functions, you don't need to install it on top of a DIR installation. Therefore mcc_startup should be run only once. For those people requiring/desiring the toolkit (TK) and the rest of the BMS kit you are right, the startup will be run twice, once per kit. This isn't easy to get around. You shouldn't have collision problems on clusters since we use locks. And the procedures clean up after them selves. If you do experience a problem please enter a note or a qar on it. |
