| I would be using it if I could get it to run.
If there is a notes conference on the subject, I have not yet been
able to find it.

248.3 | DNT aka Merlin aka DECmcc for Ultrix | WELLIN::MCCALLUM | | Fri Aug 10 1990 13:03 | 14 |
| DNT stands for Digital Network Tools, previously known as Merlin.
It was developed by Customer Services to meet the demand for SNMP
management on an ULTRIX platform.
It is being productised and will be shipped as DECmcc Management
station for Ultrix.
I would love to run it if I had a system to run it on.
I haven't found a notesfile, but there is one on SNMP on MKNME

Subj: A Notes Conference for Digital Network Tools
Here is what I have done. More in the unix style I have set up on my
system a mailer called tcpjon::dnt
If you have recieved this message you are already on the list. To send
information or ask questions just send mail to tcpjon::dnt. I will be
out of the office for the next few weeks so it will not be possible for
people to be added to the list, at least you folks can start. I have
included other people who are working on the tool so that they can
respond with information as their time allows.
If you do not want to be on the list sendmail and I will remove you when I return.
Please feel free to let other know about this

Ken,
Some history here is required. DNT is the service tool developed
by ASDS which is now available as the "DECmcc Management Station For
ULTRIX" product from TaN. It is basically SNMP based network
management software (executes on an ULTRIX 4.0 system) capable of
managing TCP/IP and DECNet Phase IV entities. It has a network map that
shows status of entities via color coding. It is mainly used for fault
notification and data collection/reporting. Data Collection sinks data
to the ULTRIX/SQL dbms and canned reports are available with the tool.
Via customer service, DNT is offered via shared netsupport and full
netsupport services. Shared netsupport provide customer access to the
tool with certain levels of customer service support setting up and
using the tool. (For example, customer services will help customers
delevop new reports and/or develop SNMP agents for older devices.)
Via TaN, MSU is strictly a layer ULTRIX product available for
approximately $14K.
Parties interested in information about DNT should contact me.
I'll have you added to our distribution lists. If interested in MSU,
this notes file is the correct place for discussion on that. You may
also contact DELNI::L_FELICE the TaN Engineering project leader.
Regards,
Jerry Puoplo
