196.1 | installation problem..... | REDBCK::mike | Mike Dransfield, Sydney RSSG | Mon Jul 23 1990 01:59 | 15 |
| Hi,
I tried to install this, but it fails on a MANAGE/TOOLKIT/DICTIONARY
command with %LIB-F-DELTIMREQ, delta time required, absolute time supplied
I have installed
MCCBMSUT011 dated 5 jul
MCCBMS2X011 dated 19 jul
MCCTKUT011 dated 3 jul
MCCTCPIPUT010 dated 19 jul
Are these versions compatible?
Is there any other reason this would fail?
Thanks,
Mike

196.2 | Check MCC_TDF | TENERE::FLAUW | | Mon Jul 23 1990 03:24 | 10 |
| Mike,
What is the value of MCC_TDF on your system ? If TDF is positive, it may
explain your error.
See note 169.2 for details.
Regards,
Marc.

196.3 | Looks like a bug to me | REDBCK::mike | Mike Dransfield, Sydney RSSG | Mon Jul 23 1990 04:02 | 9 |
| re: .2
Absolutely right.
If I define MCC_TDF to be -4:00 then it works
If I define it to be 10:00 or +10:00 (which is AEST)
then it fails with the invalid time bit.
How do I report this problem?

196.6 | Entities disappear off iconic map | REDBCK::mike | Mike Dransfield, Sydney RSSG | Mon Jul 30 1990 23:07 | 12 |
| re: .5
Thanks for that.
It seems pretty good so far, especially the iconic map PM.
There does seem to be a problem with SNMP where all the snmp nodes
disappear off the map when you quit and then reinvoke MCC.
Note that everything else on the map seems fine. DNA4 nodes, domains and
connecters all stay, but the SNMP entities vanish from the map and you
can't 'find' them either.

196.7 | no map yet | MKNME::DANIELE | | Tue Jul 31 1990 08:42 | 6 |
| Mike,
The internal field test version of the Iconic Map PM doesn't support
SNMP entities.

Re: .7

This is not quite true. For the IFT of Domains and the Iconic Map only a
specific few entities were supported. For the IFT Update release this
restriction has been lifted. There are a few requirements which must be
met in order to deal with a new entity in the map, but, if they are provided,
we are supporting new entities. (I will enter a new note detailing these
requirements.) All of these requirements have just become available with
the new releases if the Iconic Map and the TCP/IP SNMP AM. Cross testing
is now possible. If all goes well, SNMP entities will be able to be dealt
with without new software for either MM. If fixes are needed, they will
occur in a subsequent (next) field test release. So, watch this space!

196.11 | EFT Update available | MKNME::DANIELE | | Fri Aug 31 1990 16:55 | 28 |
| The DECmcc TCP/IP SNMP Access Module for VMS, external field test
update ( UT1.0.1 ) product is available.
The kit is on node CSEVEN ( 31.16 ):
Directory CSEVEN$DUA1:[DANIELE.PUBLIC.TCPIP_EFT]
DECMCC-TCP-IP_PAK.COM;1
2 20-JUL-1990 07:03:26.18
MCCTCPIPUT011.A;3 342 30-AUG-1990 15:13:49.00
MCCTCPIPUT011.B;3 792 30-AUG-1990 15:13:57.00
Total of 3 files, 1136 blocks.
The update consists of:
o a bugfix when operating with alarms
o now returns the identifiers for the ATTable and TCP.ConnTable
child entities
o now allows an SNMP community name to be specified on a SHOW
directive, before was only for SET.
The dictionary is unchanged, so when installing, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO
LOAD THE DICTIONARY AND REBUILD THE PARSE TABLE.
This kit is also the start of the SQM 30-day quiet period.
Thanks,
Mike

196.13 | nope | MKNME::DANIELE | | Wed Sep 05 1990 13:41 | 5 |
| No, you can install this on a 'clean' BMS or Director.
I just wanted to point out that you can save alot of time if
you are upgrading the TCP/IP SNMP AM.

196.14 | Upgrade Vs. complete build | GSFMCC::SYSTEM | | Wed Sep 05 1990 14:11 | 10 |
| Hi,
I just done the installation of the UT010 version anyway, therefore
I should just have to upgrade with the new kit without building the
parse table again, is that correct ??
Thanks for the quick reply for .12

196.17 | just the .exe changed | MKNME::DANIELE | | Wed Sep 05 1990 16:39 | 26 |
| Re .14, 15 & 16:
There is no change to the dictionary, the parse tables, or help,
between the TCP/IP SNMP AM T1.0.0 vs T1.0.1.
The only change is to the file MCC_TCPIP_AM.EXE.
If you have already installed T1.0.0 of the AM, then you can either
copy the .exe off of saveset B yourself, or run the installation
procedure. If you choose the latter, to save time, you should answer
"NO" to the following questions:
* Do you want to update the MCC Dictionary and the parse tables [YES]?
* Do you want to update the MCC Help file [YES]?
It won't break anything to update these files, it will just cost
you a few hours for no reason.
Sorry I didn't make this clearer before.
As regards an icon, I don't believe we have one, but will defer to
someone from the Iconic Map PM group.
Regards,
Mike
