159.1 | DECmcc EMS V1.0 Thus Far | DELNI::L_FELICE | | Wed Jun 27 1990 19:15 | 27 |
| Joerg,
Let me see if I can answer your questions with respect to the
DECmcc EMS V1.0 software, although I don't know what has been
modified, if anything, as part of DSP V1.3.
1. If you have specific point product related questions, such as for
ETHERnim, please ask those questions in that notes conference, the
ETHERnim one. If you have any questions on the overall DECmcc EMS
product, ask those questions here.
Is there a DSP conference for those questions? I imagine so.
2. There is only one DECmcc EMS product today - that's V1.0. To best
operate under DECwindows, the following is required: VMS V5.3 with
DECwindows V2.0.
There is no DECmcc EMS V1.1 product.
3. ETHERnim V2.2 is part of the DECmcc EMS V1.0 product. I'm not
clear what specific version is included in the DSP V1.3.
4. ???

159.2 | QUESTION - re -.1 | COLES1::WITZEL | | Thu Jun 28 1990 09:51 | 38 |
| Hello Lisa,
thanks for Your quick response to my questions.
re 1. The DSP conference is CLARID::NETSYSTEM
re 3. In the earlier versions of DSP ETHERnim was part of DSP
software kit which contains also VMS and all products you
need, but since DSP V1.3 engineering decide that they handle
it like an layered product that contains only the special
products like NCM,LTM-REPORTS,ARTHER,ENIM_GRAPH,NTA,RNM and
LAN report.
In the DSP V1.3 Installation Guide is a list of all the
products that are required before the DSP application kit
can be installed. This list has 15 points what is needed.
The point 3 is DECmcc-ems V1.0 and as remark they write
""" contains the following products:
- TSM V1.3
- Ethernim V2.2
- LTM V1.2
- RBMS V2.0
- NMCC-monitor V2.2 """
1. Installation Guide for DSP ask for the product DECmcc-ems V1.0
Which ETHERnim Version is part of DECmcc-ems V1.0
Is it the offical V2.2 with ENIM022.A saveset or the modified
with ENIM022B.A saveset ?
2. I find in this conference an entry about distribution for DECmcc
It is " KEEL::DUA1:[PUBLIC.USERKIT.EFT1] " and the files named
" MCCUT010.A " and " MCCUT010.B " .
Are these saveset DECmcc-ems V1.0 or is it another product ?
If they are not DECmcc V1.0,where can I get on easynet the
savesets I need ?

Another product, the DECmcc director (is that the correct name)

159.4 | Some more answers... | DELNI::L_FELICE | | Thu Jun 28 1990 19:47 | 21 |
| RE: .2
ETHERnim V2.2 is included in the DECmcc EMS V1.0 software kit,
which means saveset ENIM022.A. It has not been modified with
the ENIM022B.A software. These updates will be included in the
next DECmcc EMS release, V2.0.
To address your second question, there can be much confusion with
respect to the names. There are various network management point
products, such as ETHERnim. There are also two network management
"packages" (DECmcc SMS and EMS), which will begin to transition
our users to the EMA-compliant DECmcc products.
The term 'DECmcc' then is really used as a product family name.
In this notes conference, people usually refer to the new EMA-based
product as MCC or DECmcc or DECmcc Director or ...
