103.0. "documentation ?" by SHIRE::GOLDBLATT () Wed Apr 18 1990 09:01

I would like to obtain a short overview-type description of MCC.
Looking through the release notes, I've not found what I need.
Can anyone point me to the document which contains what I'm
looking for, or perhaps post the 1-2 paragraph description ?

    Thanks in advance,

Well short overviews for MCC can turn out to be quite lengthy. The
documentation team has produced to "shorter" manuals which might
meet your needs. These are the general description (an overview
document for the developers toolkit) and the introduction (an
introduction to the DECmcc end users product). Both of these are
for the DECmcc Director product. Pointers to these are located in
    note 57.4.

If you are looking for a quick write up on the EMS/SMS products,
please clarify your request and I will see what I can find out for
    you.

At to a 1-2 paragraph description I stole this from the introduction
to the DECmcc System Reference Manual.

MCC is a comprehensive, state-of-the-art management system
used to monitor, control, and test manageable objects
(called entities) of various types (for example, voice
and data communications systems, applications) in
       enterprise-wide, mullti-vendor distributed environments.
MCC operates within the framework of Digital's Enterprise
Management Architecture (EMA), which defines a model
for building extensible management systems, or Directors.
In the terminology of EMA, MCC is a Director, a software
system used to manage things. MCC is designed to provide
a broad range of managemet functions across a virtually
       unlimited collection of entities.

Thanks for the pointers and the description. They're just what I need.
