57.0. "QUESTION - Documentation available on-line?" by DSTEG::MCCANN () Wed Feb 21 1990 14:45

Where can I find the latest installation guide, user's guides, etc?

What I really need right now is the latest installation guide, but
perhaps pointers to all documentation could be posted as replies to this note...

Thanks,

Jack

The filenames are somewhat cryptic. A brief explanation or the title of each
document would help.

57.4A guided tour of documentationWORDY::JONGSteve Jong/NaC PubsThu Feb 22 1990 12:1435
    The directory listed in reply .1 is a public repository for all
    documents created by the NaC Pubs writers assigned to Network Management
    Engineering. As such, you only care about some of them.

    Also, I've asked the writers to delete old drafts as they post new
    ones. The file names will change, then, as writers post the field-test
    drafts over the next day or so. Anent .3, I deleted the first draft of
    _DECmcc Introduction_ when I copied in the field-test draft this
    morning.

    Here's a more recent listing of DECmcc documentation, annotated:

57.5REGENT::AUGERIMike AugeriThu Feb 22 1990 13:526
Does the DECMCC-INTRO-EFT1 file describe how everything "plays together",
for example, DECnet Monitor, ETHERnim, LAN Traffic Monitor, and whatever
other components may be used? If this document doesn't bring it all
together, is there such a document?

	Mike
57.6No, but look in...WORDY::JONGSteve Jong/NaC PubsThu Feb 22 1990 15:313
    The _DECmcc Introduction_ assumes "everything" begins and ends with the
    DECmcc Director. For information on how the DECmcc Management Station
    plays together, refer to _DECmcc Management Station Use_.
57.7REGENT::AUGERIMike AugeriThu Feb 22 1990 16:427
Steve,

Thank you, the DECmcc Management Station Use document is "exactly" what
I've been looking for -- a brief description of all the components and how
they interact.

    The newest version, to be available with the EFT release, includes
    a complete chapter on the SBI. It describes is usage and display

    At this point in time there are no explicit functional specifications
    for the SBI interface. If you need more technical information, above

    give me a call and we can discuss your needs.

    This may be a more recent version than the one you can (currently) get
    from SSB, but presuming that you only need it for internal use, try

    FILES::EMA$:[PUBLIC]ENTITY_MODEL_V1_0_0.PS;3

    I don't know where there is an on-line (.MEM) copy of the published
    version (which is a subset of an earlier draft of the to-be-published
    Entity Model V1.0 for which I've provided the pointer to the .PS).
    Confused yet?

We are gearing up to support a product that uses DECelms V1.1 (not as part of
DECmcc), and we need the manuals for this version. I found the V1.0 manuals
on WORDY::, and I know that DECelms is being subsumed in some way under SMS and

someone point me to it?

Can anyone give me a pointer to the VMS MCC BOOKREADER files online or, as a last

Apologies if the BOOKREADER files are on CONDOC - our cost centre can't afford
that. Also apologies if this has already been answered elsewhere in this
