3.223 | Announcing BIKINI"::MCC_DISK: | BIKINI::KRAUSE | European NewProductEngineer for MCC | Tue Jan 26 1993 09:02 | 27 |
I think it's about time to publicly announce another European MCC distribution point: BIKINI""::MCC_DISK:[*...] The directory structure should be pretty obvious (please let me know if you disagree) and you should start with [000000] and work down from there. Node BIKINI 49.833 (actually a cluster alias) is located @UFC Munich, Germany. "MCC_DISK" started about two years ago as a one-stop-shopping place for German customer support people to obtain MCC kits, patches, docs and related info without having to poke around in the EASYnet. It's size currently is over 900000 blocks. I maintain it on a best effort basis (read: while I'm in the office) but it is usually up to date with the latest field test releases and also contains the latest "official" release. If you are looking for MCC related stuff that is not on MCC_DISK please let me know and I will put it there. If you would like to get on my distribution list for "MCC_DISK News" a short mail to Robert Krause @UFC or MUNICH::KRAUSE will do. Best regards, *Robert (European New Product Engineer for EMA/DECmcc)
3.225 | Vitalink Bridge AM for DECmcc V1.2/1.3 ready. | TOOK::MCPHERSON | pre-retinal integration | Wed Jan 27 1993 09:51 | 26 |
The Vitalink Bridge AM (VBAM) for DECmcc V1.2 is complete and will be distributed internally within DEC from Annecy, France. For information on where and how to get the new VBAM, documentation or other distribution details, contact Bruno Lefevre @AEO. Some reminders: - This version of VBAM has NO NEW FUNCTIONALITY. - It has only been updated to work with a DECmcc V1.2 kernel. - It will also work with the new V1.3 release of DECmcc. - It will NOT work with DECmcc V1.1 (or earlier). - There is NOT an ULTRIX version of VBAM (nor is one planned); there is only a VMS version. IMPORTANT: As part of our contract with Vitalink, Digital is allowed free INTERNAL USE ONLY of the VBAM. Any copies of VBAM used as part of NetSupport delivery must be purchased from Vitalink. Using the VBAM as part of a NetSupport contract without remuneration to Vitalink is THEFT and grounds for dismissal, per Digital policy. regards. /doug

The Enterprise Management Frameworks, Network Applications NSM Quality Assurance Groups are proud to announce the availability of V1.3 of the Polycenter Network Manager 200 (formerly DECmcc BMS) and Polycenter Network Manager 400 (formerly DECmcc EMS). These kits are available on the network at the locations shown below. ********** IMPORTANT NOTE ******************** Important Interoperability Information Interoperability problems may occur when more than one product containing DECthreads[TM] is installed on a system. These problems occur because each product overwrites the system version of DECthreads. If a product with a different version of DECthreads is installed after POLYCENTER Network Manager 200, a warning message is issued the next time that POLYCENTER Network Manager 200 is started. POLYCENTER Network Manager 200 V1.3 incorporates a version of DECthreads that might be a different version than that used in the following products: o DEC C++ o DEC ACB o DEC C/Japanese for OpenVMS o DECtp (PtpM) o Digital Cryptographic Security Agent (DCSA) o Integrated Problem Management Tool (IPMT) o Mailbus 400 o Media Library Manager o OpenVMS/Japanese V5.5-2M o OSI TP o PATHWORKS for OpenVMS o POSIX o Shelving Facility for OpenVMS VAX o System Census o VAXELN TOOLKIT o DCE o DECplan o BASEstar o CIMfast o DEC Ada o DECforms o DEComni o DCPS If you encounter an interoperability problem, contact your support center for more information. The DECmcc installation procedure requires that the DECmcc licenses be loaded prior to installing the product. Instructions for obtaining PAKs are included below. >Any chance we could see a posting of patches (with symptom descriptions) >since the release of SSB V1.3? I'm working on it, but it's not easy to get descriptions and sort things out. All patches were developed independently for specific CLDs. This means that most patches only fix one problem at a time. So if you encounter more then one problem in a single module, you can only fix one of them :-( or open a new CLD, of course. As soon as I get together something usable, I'll announce it here. *Robert

Hi, If you read a software catalogue or networking catalogue you will see 3 major packages : - POLYCENTER Framework : saveset is MCCDIRxxx (Not on V1.3 SSB) - POLYCENTER Network Manager 200 : saveset MCCBMSxxx - POLYCENTER Network manager 400 : saveset MCCEMSxxx Functionalities are in ascending order (the size required for installation too). EMS added value is in LAN management. For phase IV and phase V management the MCCBMS kit is sufficient. Hope this helps, Benoit

Hi, DECmcc V1.4 is shipped on ConDist since middle of february. This is the newest available. If you have subscribed to ConDist you should have the CDROM's yet. The release notes and installation guide are on the CD. Alternatively you can order a TK50 corresponding to the product you need. As we have limited ressources we only put field test kits on the net.
