I'm not sure if this is documented anywhere... but it has always been the case. Sue

From: BROKE::BITHER "Please reply to [email protected]" 21-MAY-1997 07:48:47.81 To: MEMORMAN CC: BITHER Subj: New Stars Article TITLE: SQL/Services Supports up to 500 Columns in a Query PRODUCT: SQL/Services (all versions) OP/SYS: OpenVMS VAX, OpenVMS AXP SOURCE: Oracle Worldwide Customer Support PROBLEM: You are using a PC query tool and SQL/Services to access an Oracle Rdb database or an Oracle Rdb Distributed Option database. Accessing the database results in a SYSTEM-F-ACCVIO access violation. PROBLEM CAUSE: This problem is caused by the number of columns being queried. If the number of columns is greater than 500, then the access violation occurs. If the number of columns is 500 or less, then the query works. SOLUTION: SQL/Services can only handle up to 500 columns in a query. Redesign your queries to request no more than 500 columns at a time. \ \ CONTRIBUTORS: \ \ Technical: Diane Bither |
