| Get whoevered ordered your kits to call the number they ordered them
from.
In the UK, the people to call about ordering kits for new versions are
the Customer Relations Centre on 0990 622300.

Well that sounded promissing initially but has so far lead nowhere.
I got thru to a very helpful soul (in Bracknell?) who gave me a couple
of names to call in Ireland. This was mainly because she couldn't contact
those people directly. I have had one call returned but have not managed
to make any further contact.
I've mailed the hotline ([email protected]) and faxed Customer Services
on + 353 1 842 6163 all to no avail.
Availability of Oracle RDB on Digital UNIX has only been an issue with a
couple of our customers and we've advised then to switch to Oracle7.
Anyone have any other suggestions?

| Apparently David Carse is the person within Digital UK to talk to about
Rdb kits.

| Hi,
Thanks for the number, I'll be in touch.
re: David Carse - alas he left the Company (DIGITAL) last year some
time. To the best of knowledge, nobody has been named to replace him.
The "focal" who helped us this time is in Holland. The order was placed and
partly fulfilled. It only appears to be a shipping error.
So the customer here is Digital.

| I've put the part numbers into note 153, so you can check that you have
been given the right one.

Thanks.
I still don't have a kit but I'm waiting until tomorrow to see if I get a
call back from Manufacturing in Ireland.
We've done some double checking here. It loosks like:
1. Digital ordered the right parts (at least by name)
2. Somebody in Oracle Holland/Belgium processed the order.
3. Then it all goes wrong ... Whoever translated the order into a
Packing List generated a Packing List for the OpenVMS kit only.
4. Manufacturing in Ireland shipped correctly according to the Packing List
they had
What you (Oracle) guys need is a decent EDI system!

This is were I suspected the problem was. The differences between the
way that Rdb and the traditional Oracle products are packaged and
named, confuse people used only to the traditional products, both when
inserting into the system and when looking them up. It has not even
consistant between different versions of Rdb :-( though that is partly
due to historical reasons (V7 is the first full version released only
by Oracle).
We are working on this, as the discussion on version naming elsewhere in
this conference shows.
