34.0. "Empty Advertisements; Demo cannot find Checking Account" by SEND::PEREZ (The InFAMous Eight) Fri Apr 18 1997 16:19

When using the Desktop Connection Object Explorer or browsing
with the ActiveX Studio the Advertisements folder may appear empty.
The failure to read Advertisements is the result of the ObjectBroker
nameserver (obbnamsrv.exe) not properly being autostarted.

In order to correct the autostart problem on Windows NT alter the
profile of each user and specify a local path. The path must be to
an existing directory where the user has write privileges and cannot
be the root directory of any disk drive. This action should be taken
even if the user has Administrator privileges.

To enter a users local path on Windows NT:

o From the Administrative Tools program menu, start User Manager
o From the User Manager, highlight the desired user
o From the User Manager menu bar, select User->Properties...
o At the bottom of the Properties dialog, push the Profile button
o From the Profile dialog, enter a Local Path
o Push the OK Button to exit the User Profile dialog
o Push the OK Button to exit the User Properties dialog

Please note, the user must logoff for the change to the local path
to take effect. Please see the ObjectBroker release notes for more
information about autostart on Windows NT.

In order to correct the autostart problem on Windows 95, ensure that
OBBVAR32 is executed from AUTOEXEC.BAT properly.
