25.0. "why does xole not shut down?" by EMNTAL::STADELMANN (Sepp @ZUO 760-2609) Thu Feb 13 1997 07:28

Why are som many Xole's shown in the Task Manager Window after exiting
from ObjectBroker OLE Agent Server - CheckAccount ?

Why Do I have to shut down them using the task manager ?

I assume that having more then one Xole shown in the task manager is
one reason why a file lock problem exists with the .mlb and .ilb
(leading to the sequence of errors as explaine in previous notes.

What I strongly recommend is to gain an understanding, to have a
(internal only) paper explaing the architectural and design behaviour.

It's just hard to guess what all goes on in case of error

I will give you just an example:

I have successfully opened my .xo file, all synthesized windows are
there and upto date. ALos my Fiel Explorer from MS is still on screen
the one use to launche the .xo file.

Now tell me why I can see activity going on in the bank11s.exe
old application window JUST BECAUSE I CLOSE MY WINDOWs 95 EXPLORER ?

You should only have one server running at a time. The other
servers are somehow getting hung. It would be cool if you could
identify how they are getting hung.

I'm not sure how you got that .xo file, but for now, please use
only the object explorer to activate an agent. Delete any .xo
files you might have lying around. There is a known problem with
the path attribute associated with that .xo file activation that
may be contributing to your problems.

I'm going to be working on online help and context sensitive help
next. It won't explain the architecture, but it will explain how
    to use it.

You going to see activity in the bank server whenever the agent
doc view is asked to repaint. This is something we did during
early development but will turn off when the final kit ships. To
get the doc view to update with new values then, you will need to
    press the refresh button.
