--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are releasing the ObjectBroker V2.7-11 CLD kits today. These kits contain
fixes listed below. The primary purpose for the release of this CLD kit is to
provide support for NT V4.0. Kits are available for all ObjectBroker supported
platforms. These kits supercede the SSB release of ObjectBroker V2.7 (ie
V2.7-10).

The kits are stored in:

   Release Notes for ObjectBroker CLD Version 2.7-11, January 1997
   ----------------------------------------------------------------

These are the release notes for the first CLD release after the external
product release of ObjectBroker Version 2.7, (version 2.7-10). This release,
ObjectBroker V2.7-11, contains the following corrections to the ObjectBroker
software. Note that no changes or rebuilds are required for user application
programs to take advantage of these repairs.

The following are the corrections for all platforms:

o The CORBAService Naming Service interface to the advertisement partition
   does not return a binding iterator. This function worked in ObjectBroker
   Version 2.6 but was broken in ObjectBroker Version 2.7-10.
   This fix corrects the problem and restores the CORBAService Naming Service
   interface to the previous working behavior.

o The following data marshaling problems have been corrected:

   + Passing a sequence of structs containing other structs as their members,
      returns 'buffer too small' error.

   + Returning arrays of objects shows a 'buffer too small' error.

   + Enums between a C client and a C++ server do not match. They have
      different values, even though they were generated from the same OMG IDL.

   + Passing typecodes as out parameters between C clients and C++ servers
      results in an 'invalid type was specified' error.

o The ObjectBroker Version 2.7 Documentation Supplement has two errors on page
   6-6:

   + In Step 3, the parameter OBBAgentNodeName should be used in place of the
     parameters OBBAgentNode, OBBAgentName, and OBBAgentprincipalname.

     The corrected sequence of commands for Step 3 is as follows:

       rgy_edit=> domain principal

       rgy_edit=> add OBBAgentNodeName # Use this exact form,
                                                         # OBBAgentmysystem
       rgy_edit=> domain account

       rgy_edit=> add OBBAgentNodeName -g none -o none
                  -pw AgentPassword -mp CellAdminPassword

       rgy_edit=> ktadd -p OBBAgentNodeName -pw AgentPassword
                  -f v5srvtab

   + In Step 4, the last command should use the parameter ServerPrincipalName
     rather than OBBAgentprincipalname. The corrected command is as follows:

       rgy_edit=> ktadd -p ServerPrincipalName -pw ServerPassword
                  -f v5srvtab

The following are the corrections to the Windows NT platform:

o Extended Windows NT support to include both Version 3.51 and 4.0 (Version
   4.0 requires Service Pack 1).
   ObjectBroker does not currently support DCE on Windows NT Version 4.0.

o Corrected the ObjectBroker credential manager to work correctly with NT
   Version 4.0.
   A symptom of the problem that was corrected was that the ObjectBroker
   credential manager was not getting called when a user changed their
   password. As a result, ObjectBroker did not pick up the password change
   and subsequent server startup attempts for that user account failed
   because the password was not current.

o For ObjectBroker on the Windows NT V3.51 platform, the minimum supported
   release of DCE is now Version 1.1b. You will need to upgrade your DCE
   product to the Version 1.1b release before installing and using
   ObjectBroker V2.7-11.

   This represents an upgrade from the previously supported release of DCE
   Version 1.1a. This upgrade was necessary to utilize several corrections to
   the DCE memory  management functions.

The following are the corrections to the Windows 95 platform:

o Repaired a timeout parameter in the TCP/IP interface for Windows 95.
   This corrects a hang condition in a Windows 95 client that is talking
   to a server. If the server dies, the Windows 95 client never times out.
   This fix adds a timeout parameter so that eventually the client will
   timeout after the server dies.

The following are the corrections to the HP-UX platform:

o A previously reported installation error on HP-UX V10.01 has been repaired.
   This problem occurred when upgrading the development kit and is described
   in the 'Read Before Installing' letter inside of the ObjectBroker Version
   2.7-10 kit.
3.2Pre-release of ObjectBroker Desktop ConnectionSEND::LANGFri Apr 18 1997 14:4417

The following is a pre-release of the ObjectBroker Desktop Connection:

	SEND:OBB$KITS:[DTC.BL6]

This product runs on Windows 95 and Intel Windows NT V4.0

It requires the ObjectBroker T.3-02 kit. The location of that kit is:

	SEND::OBB$KITS:[T30.T302]

Note that when you are unzipping the ObjectBroker kit for NT (only)
you need to use a 32-bit application, like WinZip 6.2. Otherwise, you
will have a problem installing due to long file names.
