My PIN # is 120495. My problem is I can not get the
kernel symbols to load. The host machine is an Alpha XL266,
running winnt 4.0 free build, the target machine is an
AlphaStation 200 4/166 running winnt 4.0 checked build.
The two machines are connected via serial ports COMM1.

I have followed the instructions from the Windows NT DDK
Programmers Guide, chapter 4. From the Windows NT Workstation 4.0
checked build CDROM I copied the <cdrom>:\SUPPORT\DEBUG\ALPHA\SYMBOLS
to the host machine c:\magma\Symbols. That should have satisfied
the instructions from section 4.1.5 ("Accessing the Target Machine's
Symbols") of the programmer's guide.

I still get complaints from "WinDBG" that it can't open
the HAL symbol file, nor can it find many of the other symbol
or .exe files. I have set the "user dll" search path
to c:\magma\Symbols from the options menue.

Let me know if you need more info,
Thanks,
Bruce Schoenleber

I have mailed bruce to check that he has not installed any service paks
on the target systems. If he has then he need to use the correct
    symbols from the service paks.

If not then I suggested several thing to understand why windbg is not
seeing the symbols on the path.

    awaiting his reply.
