I called him back and outlined the fact that his NVRAM might be hosed either through failure or by the fact that all the firmware image wasn't loaded. Whatever the case, it's a field service type question (did not find any 250/firmware v3.8 specific issues through COMET). Of course he wasn't in and I left a message, but told him to call back if there was anyt confusion. To enable firmware update on the 250: 1. flash ROM jumper must be enabled. 2. boot the firmware CD using the CD device ID from "show dev" 3. type update 4. type verbose 5. type verify (problems? repeat, etc.). 6. to exit, power cycle BUT LEAVE POWER OFF AT LEAST 20 SECONDS.
