Brief Description of Problem:

Tom has inherited the system from someone who has left the company. When
booting the system several error messages scroll by, but too fast for him to
read them. The screen stops scrolling...but he never gets the login: prompt.
He can telnet in, and things look fine. He'd like to look at an errorlog, but
does not know where to look.
He does not think he has a csc contract.
