    Brief Description of Problem:
    -----------------------------

  Wants to swap graphics cards *without* reinstalling the system. Has Open3D
V4.2 installed, but when replacing a PowerStorm 4D60T (or 4D40T) with a 4D20T
the system complains about missing a driver. She will supply me with details
on the exact error message - I suspect she may need an upgrade or patch to
Open3D to pick up the missing driver since simply rebuilding the kernel doesn't
work, cheers...

3632.2Mid & High-end PowerStorm need ECO kit...AMCUCS::SWIERKOWSKIQuot homines tot sententiaeTue May 20 1997 18:5319
Greetings!

  In a nutshell, per the SPD's for the entire Digital UNIX V4.0[any] stream,
only the low-end PowerStorm 4D20T is supported on all versions. The 4D40T
(and up) isn't supported until V4.0C. Having said that that, the Open3D
External Field Test web page does have the basic Open3D kit (V4.3) along with
an ECO kit that is *mandatory* on V4.0 --> V40B systems with 4D40T (and up)
controllers and it's recommended on V4.0C systems with 4D40T (and up) control-
lers. I've sent Nancy mail and await feedback...

3632.3Call closed...AXPBIZ::SWIERKOWSKIQuot homines tot sententiaeTue Jun 03 1997 19:2918
Greetings!

  I hadn't heard back from Nancy since I sent her mail on 5/19/97 re: support
for the 4Dx0T family of PowerStorm controllers on various versions of Digital
UNIX V4.0[any]. In fact she had logged a redundant call (#3663) in the inter-
rim) whicj I also replied to. In any event she got her problems resolved and
I'm closing this call, cheers...
