    Brief Description of Problem:
    -----------------------------

  Wants information on current (and future?) compiler releases for "Visual C++".
They had been using V4.0A (on Alpha) and are upgrading to V5.0 on (on Intel).
Wants to know if the next Alpha release is going to be compatible with the V5.0
Intel compiler or is some interrim (V4.2?) release next, cheers...

3631.2Mail (re)sent, awaiting feedback...AMCUCS::SWIERKOWSKIQuot homines tot sententiaeMon May 19 1997 17:1320
Greetings!

  I started researching this in the internal DECWET::VISUAL conference and V5.0
of "Visual C++ 5.0 for Windows NT on Digital's Alpha Systems" per note 5.41 was
released internally early last month. Per Microsoft own web server, all the
ordering information, a data sheet and system requirements are all there, so
I mailed him the collection (after the first bunch of mailed bounced over the
weekend). FWIW, I think he gave me a bogus address. I think it should be
"[email protected]" and *NOT* "[email protected]" like he told me,
awaiting feedback...
