Brief Description of Problem:
-----------------------------
I wanked David through a *lot* of stuff getting his OpenVMS system going.
He's dual booting UNIX and OpenVMS, so I helped him set up an alternate root on
his system disk.
Also walked him through fixing a "broken" user account, running bookreader, etc.

One was that he used TELNET to get another username logged in to the same box. I suggested that he use CREATE/TERMINAL/NOLOGGED to do this instead (his problem was that the TELNET process wouldn't have te terminal set up correctly). I also talked him through getting the debugger up in a detached process through CREATE/TERMINAL/NOPROCESS, defining DBG$INPUT and DBG$OUTPUT, and calling LIB$SIGNAL(SS$_DEBUG). -- Chuck Newman | |||||
